The PUSH-UP: No two look ๐ the same and why that’s OK!!

Push-ups are like signatures, unique, distinctive, and no two look the same.ย Widely regarded as the oldest form of body weight training, the push-up has made a comeback of sorts recently.ย It’s easy to look and find videos about how to perform the “perfect push-up”.ย How you need to be doing “100 push-ups a day”.ย I hate to break it to you, but anyone who tells you there’s only one right way to do a push-up either doesn’t know what they’re talking about or is just trying to sound like an expert.ย Of all the hundreds of people I’ve coached over the years, I’ve never seen two who had the exact same push-up form.ย Even when I taught them the exact same technique, they still looked different.ย So the real question is why is that and why doesn’t it matter?
If we start with the premise that we’re all different, then it should make sense that we will all have different movement patterns.ย Some people are taller or shorter, have longer legs or longer torsos; longer or shorter arms etc.ย Watch the attached video to see how I address this and how these aforementioned differences produce different yet effective versions of the push-up.
